### Wikler Picks Up Key Endorsement in DNC Chair Bid

**BY CAROLINE VAKIL - 01/06/25 8:40 AM ET**

Ben Wikler, chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, garnered significant support in his campaign for the chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), with a noteworthy endorsement from Lavora Barnes, chair of the Michigan Democratic Party.

In a statement distributed via social media platform X, Barnes expressed her backing for Wikler, stating, “I am supporting Ben Wikler for DNC chair because he knows how to unite the party, to fight, and to win. Over the six years we’ve both been state chairs, we’ve communicated and worked together constantly.” She praised Wikler's capability in developing a robust operation in Wisconsin and his dedication to supporting Democratic efforts in other states.

Wikler responded to the endorsement on X, sharing his pride in receiving support from Barnes, emphasizing their coll aborative efforts to strengthen the Democratic presence in the Midwest.

Wikler stands among a competitive field for the DNC chair position, with other contenders including Ken Martin, the Minnesota state party chair; former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley; New York state Sen. James Skoufis; and others.

His campaign was further bolstered last week by the endorsement of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), along with backing from diverse groups such as Third Way, MoveOn, and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC).

In contrast, Ken Martin has asserted that he has collected over 100 endorsements from DNC committee members, intensifying the race ahead of the DNC chair election scheduled for February 1.
